Voter turnout reaches 48 percent

first_imgVoter turnout in Clark County reached 48 percent today, as election officials received 15,540 more ballots in the mail.Of the 219,450 ballots mailed to registered voters, 106,888 have been returned, according to the Clark County Elections Office’s website. A voter turnout of 61 percent has been predicted for Clark County and 66 percent statewide.Ballots postmarked today or dropped off in election drop-off boxes are yet to be counted.Today’s general election includes a high stakes match between Jaime Herrera and Denny Heck for the 3rd Congressional District and a race between Patty Murray and Dino Rossi for U.S. Senate. Locally, Tony Golik and Brent Boger are vying to be the next county prosecuting attorney and Commissioner Steve Stuart is seeking re-election with a win over opponent Alan Svehaug.Election results are expected at 8:15 tonight.
