GRA commences CK series for motorcycles

first_imgThe Licence Revenue Office of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Thursday commenced issuing registration of motorcycles in the ‘CK’ series, having completed the target of 9999 in the ‘CJ’ series.In a notice published in Guyana Times on Saturday, GRA informed that the ‘CJ’ series had commenced on November 1, 2016.In addition, the agency informed that the registration of a motorcycle will remain the same $1,000. Moreover, “Motorists are reminded that registration of a motorcycle requires a completed application form, valid form of identification, original invoice or invoices and other accompanying documents. The cycle must also be presented to the GRA for inspection,” the agency said.When it comes to cars, Guyana Times was told that Guyanese will soon be able to have customised number plates as GRA is moving to make the adjustment following the end of the ‘PZZ’ series.According to a source at the GRA, the ‘PXX’ series was a very exhilarating group of letters for many, noting that authorities are yet to decide whether or not the ‘Y’ series will be used on registration plates before ‘X’.Whether or not it is used, the source added that officials at GRA have already started exploring customisable number plates.It was explained that the owners of motor vehicles will be given letters to choose from, while the option of having a name, accompanied by a number on the registration plates will be accessible “at a small cost”.“It will have specific numbers and letters that you can put … everything is not quite clear as yet because it’s still going through the process through management,” the source revealed.The option of customisable registration plates is nonetheless certain, the source added.In the case of the vehicle being transferred and the original owner has their name on the registration plates, the new owner will also have the option of changing the name on the plates, according to the source.In the meantime, the officials are working on how privately-owned vehicles can be differentiated from vehicles up for hire.last_img read more
