Governor Wolf Orders Commonwealth Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Retired Justice Nicholas P. Papadakos

first_img SHARE Email Facebook Twitter Flag Order,  Press Release Harrisburg, PA – Governor Tom Wolf has ordered commonwealth flags to fly at half-staff on the Capitol Complex and throughout the commonwealth to honor Retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Nicholas P. Papadakos.Justice Papadakos, 92, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017. He retired from the Supreme Court in 1995 after serving 11 years. Before that, he was an Allegheny County judge for eight years.The Commonwealth Flag shall remain at half-staff until sunset on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. In Ojochal, we celebrate this day as the Day of the Ojoche. There used to be quite a lot of ojoche trees in Ojochal, but now there are only a few. The Ojoche committee wants to reintroduce the ojoche tree in Ojochal, and you are invited to celebrate with us at the Salón Comunal in Ojochal, June 15, at 10 a.m. We will start with a civil act from the Tortuga School, with songs and an explanation of the day. Then there will be a presentation about the ojoche tree by Dr. Martín Artavia, expert ojoche biologist. Federico Solórzano from the organization Planet Conservation will amuse us with his stories. At the end of the celebration, we will plant some ojoche trees. During the entire event there will be tasty, typical food available.On May 22, a well-known Costa Rican cyclist, Alejandro Alvarado, was hit and killed close to Liberia by a truck. The driver left the scene, but police caught him. Alejandro was training for the Guanaride, an international event in Costa Rica. On Sunday, June 24, an event will be held in Ojochal to launch the CUIDENOS campaign for cyclist safety on Costa Rica’s roads.
