first_img June 20, 2019 Governor Wolf Commends House of Representatives on PA Farm Bill Passage Press Release Harrisburg, PA – Governor Wolf today applauded the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for its passage of ten bills related to the governor’s PA Farm Bill, a historic proposal to provide support for and continued investments in the commonwealth’s agriculture industry.“I commend the state House of Representatives for its continued support of agriculture and the investments made through this legislative package,” said Gov. Wolf. “We look forward to the Pennsylvania Senate lending its support to the Farm Bill in the coming days.”The PA Farm Bill, a bipartisan, bicameral package of legislation that provides support for and continued investments in the commonwealth’s agriculture industry, was modeled after the governor’s six-point plan to cultivate future generations of Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry.“The PA Farm Bill is historic, rooted in need and inspired by the people whose lives are dedicated to and shaped by agriculture,” said Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. “It is comprehensive enough to impact all corners of the commonwealth and all pockets of the industry.”The legislation recently approved includes:• HB 1514 would create the PA Farm to School Grant Program for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students to support increased nutrition and agriculture education.• HB 1516 would continue the fight against the Spotted Lanternfly and would create the Pennsylvania Rapid Response Disaster Readiness Account to provide a quick response to the next agricultural disaster, whether animal health, plant health, or foodborne illness.• HB 1517 would create the Conservation Excellence Grant program to support best management practices in priority areas of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.• HB 1518 would recreate the Agriculture and Youth Development grant program to support workforce development initiatives for agriculture and youth organizations such as FFA and 4-H.• HB 1519 would create a state-level Specialty Crop Block Grant program to invest in priority crops for Pennsylvania, such as hardwoods, hemp, and hops.• HB 1520 would provide grants for small farmers or butchers to reimburse costs for federal inspection compliance to access new markets.• HB 1521 would codify the PA Preferred Homegrown by Heroes program to recognize and support Pennsylvania’s veteran farmers.• HB 1523 would create the Agriculture Business Development Center to support business planning, marketing, diversification, and transition planning services to Pennsylvania farmers.• HB 1526 would recreate the Agriculture Linked Investment Program to provide low-interest loans for conservation practices.• HB 1590 would create the Dairy Investment Program to fund research and development, organic transition assistance, value-added processing, and marketing grants in support of Pennsylvania’s dairy industry.The bills will now head to the Senate for consideration.For more information about the PA Farm Bill and Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry, visit the Department of Agriculture website.center_img SHARE Email Facebook Twitterlast_img read more

first_imgSingapore Airlines confirms fourth new aircraft for PerthSingapore Airlines today confirmed that from 1 October 2019, customers travelling to and from Perth will have access to latest medium-haul cabin products, the newest inflight entertainment system and the most advanced aircraft in the sky on all four daily flights.Currently operating two Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft, one Boeing 787-10 aircraft and one A330-300 aircraft to Perth, Singapore Airlines will complete the final upgrade of aircraft when SQ225/224 begins operating as a Boeing 787-10 from Tuesday 1 October.The 787-10 is configured with 337 seats across two classes, featuring 36 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout and 301 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.Deployment of the 787-10 will deliver an increase in capacity for the flight of around 5% over the course of the year with almost 38,000 additional seats added to the Singapore-Perth route on a return basis.Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Philip Goh, said the deployment of the second 787-10 and fourth new aircraft to Perth was reinforcement of Singapore Airlines commitment to the Western Australia market.“We have proudly operated to Perth for the past 52 years and it continues to be an important part of our global network,” Mr Goh said.“Perth was the first Australian city to welcome the 787-10 in May last year and since then we have begun operating two A350-900 medium-haul aircraft on the route as well.“When we deploy the fourth new aircraft for the city in the coming months it will not only reflect our commitment to the market, but also cater for the growing demand we are seeing for inbound and outbound travel.“We are very pleased that from 1 October, our customers will have access to an unparalleled level of product consistency, comfort and of course the famous Singapore Airlines service aboard four of the most technologically advanced aircraft in the sky.”Business Class on the 787-10 is arranged in a forward-facing 1-2-1 staggered configuration to provide every customer direct aisle access. Each seat is able to recline directly into a 76” fully-flat bed, allowing Business Class customers to rest in more comfort, even on the shortest flights.Customers will have more options to relax in their seat while being entertained by myKrisWorld, SIA’s award-winning in-flight entertainment system, on their personal 18” full high-definition touchscreen monitor, powered by Panasonic’s latest eX3 system.Each seat is equipped with retractable armrests that can be raised and lowered and whether travelling alone or with a partner, adjustable dividers at the centre seats provide for a customised level of privacy to suit individual preferences.Business Class customers can also look forward to other features to enhance their travelling experience, such as ample stowage space for personal items, a business panel with in-seat power supply and USB ports, and integrated reading light unit with adjustable lighting intensity.For Economy Class customers the 787-10 medium-haul cabin products also offers an enhanced in-flight experience. Arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration, each of the 301 Economy Class seats has an ergonomically-designed contour backrest that provides greater comfort, with a six-way adjustable headrest with foldable wings to provide more neck support.Economy Class customers can also enjoy an enhanced entertainment experience on their personal 11.6” full high-definition touchscreen monitor, as they browse from the selection of more than 1,000 movies, TV shows, audio programmes and games on myKrisWorld.Other features that Economy Class customers can look forward to include personal storage space for small personal items, a coat hook, USB port and in-seat power supply.Singapore Airlines is the largest customer for the 787-10, with firm orders for 49 of the aircraft and currently has 12 fleet as of 1 August.
